Adeline Iverson, 93, of West Fargo, formerly of Binford, passed peacefully in her apartment at Sheyenne Crossings on Saturday evening, February 9, 2013 in the care of her son and Red River Hospice.
She was born to Anna and James Beattie of Hannaford on October 1, 1919, the sixth of seven children. She attended grade school at Bartley Consolidated School and graduated from Hannaford High School before attending college at Valley City Teacher's College. It was while teaching 7th grade in Grafton, ND that she roomed with Mildred Iverson who introduced her cousin Lloyd Iverson to Adeline. They were married November 2, 1947 and built their home on the Iverson family farmstead where they lived until 1980. During these years they farmed and raised one son, Blair who currently lives in Minneapolis, MN.
After retiring, they moved to West Fargo, spending winters in Palmetto, FL. Lloyd died in 1988 and was sorely missed. Adeline continued wintering in Florida where she had an active social life. She pursued a lifelong love of literature and politics; always staying abreast of world events. She was most content with a great book.
Adeline was the last of her siblings to pass, and was the only one to die of old age. While, she was tiny in size, she was fierce in spirit and lived and died very much on her own terms. She is survived by four sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, and her son Blair.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Cornerstone Community Church in Cooperstown. Visitation will immediately precede the service at 10:00 AM. Spring interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND.
Officiating will be Pastor Ron Van Peursem. Casketbearers will be Curt Beattie, Edward Hahn, Monty Okken, Charles Johnson, Rod Iverson, Terry Watne. Honorary Casketbearers will be Steve Alm and Jim Jacobsen. Organist will be Rhoda Ueland. Congregational hymns will be "Amazing Grace" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness".
