Albert F. Moilanen, age 91, resident of Brocket, ND, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society of Lakota, ND.
Albert Frank Moilanen was born June 2, 1920 on the family farm, southwest of Brocket. He was the 7 th of 13 children born to Frank and Jennie (Huotari) Moilanen. He attended Hope Country School. He worked on the family farm, did mechanical work and operated Al's Trucking Service. Albert married Louise Sundeen Anderson on November 4, 1954 in Brocket, where they made their home. Albert was a member of United Lutheran Church, the Brocket Pioneer Square, and the Brocket town board. He enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors and was a member of the Stump Lake Tractor Club. He proudly served as the Brocket Fire Chief for many years. Albert and Louise loved the community of Brocket, where they were surrounded by friends and family. He was proud of his Finnish heritage and hosted many Saturday night saunas. Albert was a man who loved to tell stories and make people laugh, and he appreciated the simple things in life.
Albert is survived by sons, Gene (Marilyn) Anderson of Grafton, ND and Neil (Patricia) Anderson of Lakota, ND; a daughter, Kristy (Paul) Tronson of Doyon, ND; grandchildren, Lance (Kelly) Anderson, Mark (Rhonda) Anderson, Scott (Amy) Anderson, Kevin (Alyssa) Anderson, Stacy (Robert) Kupfer, Carrie (Jason) Huwe, and Patrick (Leanne) Tronson; great-grandchildren, Sloan, Marly, Abby, Hayden, Drew, Sadie, Morgan, Dawson, Joey, and Rylan; sisters, Beatrice Thompson, Edna Straka, and Elvi Johnson; sisters-in-law, Mary Sundeen, Erva Moilanen, and Patty Moilanen; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who called him Uncle Albert.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louise in 1998; his parents; brothers, Oscar, George, and Charles; and his sisters, Lillian, Laura, Mamie, Matilda, Irene, and Betty.
The Funeral Service will be held at United Lutheran Church of Brocket on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Peter Horn. Music will be provided by Jason Flom. Interment will be in the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket. The casketbearers will be Albert's grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service
