Alice Matejcek

Alice M. Matejcek, age 93, resident of rural Brocket, ND, died Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Alice Mildred Kosobud was born October 24, 1920 in Shepherd Township of Walsh County, ND, the daughter of James and Frances (Pachl) Kosobud. She was raised on the family farm and attended area schools. Alice married William J. Matejcek on November 12, 1926. They made their home in Sauter Township. The couple farmed there all of their life together. William died September 15, 2008. Over the years Alice loved gardening, caring for the farm and the animals, as well as knitting and sewing.

Alice is survived by her son, Kenneth Matejcek of Horace, ND; her daughter, Bonnie (Wilbur) Powers of Sheridan, WY; 5 grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Arlene, Billy, and Melanie; 3 great-grandchildren, Carson, Lydia, and Avery; her sister, Mildred (Lawrence) Matejcek of Brocket, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Maynard Matejcek; and a brother, Herman Kosobud.

A graveside service will be held at the WFLA Kosobud Cemetery, rural Lankin, ND, on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
