Allen Rusten

Allen Wayne Rusten, age 85, of Aneta, ND, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.

Allen was born December 19, 1928 to Henry and Anna (Bjorhus) Rusten in Cooperstown, ND. He grew up and attended school in Sharon, ND. Allen attended Mayville State Teachers College . After his education he returned to Aneta and started farming. Allen served in the US Army from October 9, 1953 to September 21, 1955. After his honorable discharge he returned to the farm in Aneta. On May 1, 1966 he married Judy Egeland in Aneta, ND. Allen was very active with the church, he gave a sermon at Aneta Parkview every 5 th Sunday. He served as a township clerk, and on the school board and Farmers Union Oil board. He was also active in the Gideons. He taught Sunday School and led Bible Studies. He was a volunteer with Altru Hospice. He was a member of Ottawa Church Council.

Allen is survived by his wife Judy of Aneta, ND, daughter Angie (Stuart) Gullicks of Finley, ND sons Scott (Kayla) Rusten of Finley, ND and Tim (Jennifer) Rusten of Aneta, ND. 7 Grandchildren; Ethan, Grant and Darren Gullicks, Wyatt, Cord and Sage Rusten and Rachel Gotter. Sister Clarice (Albert) Bohle of Modesto, CA, brother Henry (Bonnie) Rusten of Turner, OR, and many nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Mahan and Arlene Lee.

Funeral services will be Monday June 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Ottawa Lutheran Church, rural Aneta, ND. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND, and will continue an hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
