Alma O. Overby

Alma O. Overby, age 94, resident of Cooperstown, ND, formally Binford, ND, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 in the Griggs County Care Center.

Alma Omdal was born on May 20, 1923 on the family farm north of McHenry, ND to Lars and Laura (Peterson) Omdal. She grew up and attended country schools through the 8th grade. She then completed High School through correspondence courses, graduating in 1941. She attended Mayville Teacher's College in Mayville, ND; then began her teaching career in 1942. On September 8, 1951 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Overby. She quit teaching in 1957 to focus on raising her family. They farmed in the Binford area until retiring in 1995. Kenneth passed away on May 31, 2015. Alma enjoyed her family, flowers and reading.

Alma is survived by her 3 children: Mark (Pam) Overby, Nixa, MO, Peggy Price, Springer, NM and Bruce (Elona) Overby, Binford, ND. 5 Grandchildren (Mark's) Matthew & Braden and (Bruce's) Tasha, Tanner and Trey. Alma is also survived by her brother Clifford Omdal, Cooperstown, ND, sister Florence Bruer, Sun City West, AZ and several nieces and nephews.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Marvin Omdal and sisters, Lillian Overby and Myrtle Overby.

Funeral services for Alma will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Midkota Elementary School Gymnasium, Binford, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND and will continue one hour prior to services in the school. Interment will be held in the Binford Cemetery.
