Annette “Nan” Rorvig, age 85, resident of McVille, ND, died Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Nelson County Health System (NCHS) Care Center, McVille, ND. She had endured a lengthy but noble decline.
Annette Marie Loe was born August 18, 1936 in McVille, ND, the daughter of James E.F. Loe and Cecil (Agnes) née Ophaug Loe. She matriculated at rural school Bergen #1 and was graduated from McVille Public School in 1954. She held undergraduate academic degrees from Valley City State University and graduate degrees from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. Annette married Dennis T. Rorvig in 1955. She was a recognised artist and art educator and respected advocate for the arts. In 2015, Nan received a North Dakota Governor's Awards for the Arts presented by ND's then-Governor Jack Dalrymple. She, herself, was artistic and musical. She enjoyed learning and teaching. She was inspired and curious. She was an engaged and adventuresome traveler. Her determined, individualistic, stylish, passionate, spirited and spiritual presence will be sorely missed by her many loved ones and friends. Blessed be her dynamic and cherished memory.
Nan is the wife of Dennis T. Rorvig, who survives her. They were married 67 years. Sister to Donald (Judy) Loe, Stillwater, MN and Robert (Linda) Loe, McVille, ND. Devoted mother to Dean Rorvig, New York City; Dan (Teresa née Trost) Rorvig, McVille, ND; and Carla née Rorvig (Andrew) Milliard, Fargo, ND. Loving grandmother to Amy née Rorvig (Taryl) Smith; Scott Rorvig; Justin Milliard; and Brody Milliard. Great-grandmother to Kade Smith. Aunt to Tim Rorvig; Heidi née Loe (Ted) Setterlund; Jim (Deb) Loe; Annie Loe (Neil Obringer); Erik (Sara) Loe; Jennifer née Loe (Kevin) Gall; and the late Nathan Loe. Cousin of Marilyn née Menge McRae; Bud Loe; Judy née Ophaug Johnson; and Ron Ophaug. Great-aunt; godmother; and foster mother to many.
A Memorial Service will be held at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the spring at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
