Arlene Moum

Arlene M. Moum, 75, of Grand Forks, ND (formerly McVille, ND) passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Tufte Manor in Grand Forks.

Arlene was born on January 26, 1937 in Lakota, ND to Alexander and E. Marie (Swendseid) Drake. She lived on a farm outside of Petersburg, ND and then moved to McVille, ND in 1946. She graduated from McVille High School in 1955. She married Alvin Moum in 1956. After living in the area for several years, they moved to Chehalis, WA in 1965. Their son, Michael, was born in 1967. Arlene worked mostly as a waitress throughout her stay in Washington. She returned to McVille in 1996. She recently moved to Tufte Manor in Grand Forks. Arlene will be remembered for her love of dogs and books. She was an excellent cook.

Arlene is survived by her son Mike of Chehalis, Washington; brother Francis (Melly) Drake, of Thompson, ND; nieces, Laurene Garlow of Dickinson, ND and Kyra Drake of West Fargo, ND; step-niece Mary (Milton) Booth; step-nephews, Barry Newman and Adam (Sara) Newman; several great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and special friends, Geri Manke, Harvey Schmiginski, and Don Lovejoy all of McVille, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the McVille Public Library.

A Celebration of Arlene's life will be held Saturday, November 17 at the Senior Center in McVille, ND from 1-4 PM.
