Arvid W. Swendseid

Arvid W. Swendseid, age 76, resident of Devils Lake, ND, died Friday, August 30, 2024 at his home in Devils Lake.

Arvid Wayne Swendseid was born August 19, 1948 in Fordville, ND, the son of Wayne and Ardis (Johnson) Swendseid.  He was raised on the family farm near Dahlen, ND and graduated in 1966 from Unity High School in Petersburg, ND.  He worked at the Knetter Cheese Plant in Lakota, ND, then began working for Polar Communications for 34 years.  He retired at 55, then raised cattle for another 10 years before officially retiring.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved bow and gun hunting, or anything outdoors, and especially enjoyed team penning.

Arvid is survived by his life partner, Wanda Bakke; 3 daughters, Tina (Alan) Anderson, Tara (Bill) Dodd, and Theresa (life partner, Delane McAnally) Moise; son-in-law, Mike Staffne; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Arlyce (Rick) Trenda and Sarah Bergeron; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Tanya Staffne.

The Funeral Service for Arvid will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Dahlen, ND.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
