Bert Jensen

Bert Jensen, age 87, of Pekin, ND passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Bert was born November 22, 1923 in Pekin , the son of Jens and Margaret (Carlson) Jensen. He was raised on a farm south of Pekin and attended country school at Bergan #4. He entered the Army during World War II and successfully completed a course of instruction in general automotive mechanics. Bert was stationed in Germany and worked as a mechanic on the army vehicles. After being honorably discharged he moved to Devils Lake and drove taxi, this is where he met Genevieve Brudeseth and they were married on December 12, 1946 at Devils Lake, ND. They moved to Detroit, MI where Bert worked on the Chrysler assembly line. They returned to ND and lived north of McVille, ND before settling near Pekin. Bert farmed for many years, which is what he loved to do. He also did carpentry work and had owned and operated his own semi truck.

Bert is survived by his children, Patsy (Larry) Wold of West Fargo, ND, Glenn (Helen) Jensen of Tolna, ND, Peggy Ruud of McVille, Carl (Pam) Jensen of Pekin, and Jackie (Scott) Robideau of Kearney, NE; daughter in law Dee Jensen; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Owen, sisters Marie & Prudence, brothers Henry, James & Carl; son in law Elden Ruud.

Funeral services for Bert will be Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00AM in the New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the McVille Cemetery. Military honors by the Ole Semling American Legion Post #135.
