Betty J. Pound

Betty Jane Pound, age 86, resident of Binford, ND passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 with family by her side at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown.

Betty was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 26, 1929 to Stephen and Jessie (Falla) Fintoski. At a young age Betty moved with her family to a farm north of Binford. She graduated from Binford High School and attended Valley City State Teachers College. Betty lived on a farm south of McHenry while she taught at numerous schools in and around Griggs and Foster Counties. Betty has lived in Binford since 1996 when she moved the farmhouse into town. Along with her house she brought some animals and a lifelong love for gardening.

Betty will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Darby (Richard) Lowe of Stillwater, MN; sons, Miles (Rhonda) Pound of Apex, NC and James (Peg) Pound of Avondale, AZ; her grandchildren, Matthew Pound, Jessie (David) Burns, Robyn (Ben) Dillon, Amanda Pound, Stephanie Pound, Matthew Wallis, and Michael Wallis; her great grandchildren, Harper Burns, Chloe Dillon, and Alexandra Burns; and her beloved dog “Homer”.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

The Funeral Mass for Betty will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Jessie, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Rosary at 6:00 p.m. in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to Mass in the church. Interment will be in the spring at the Naroen Cemetery, rural Binford, ND.
