Burgess "Bud" Matejcek

Burgess “Bud” D. Matejcek, age 78, resident of Devils Lake, ND died November 30, 2016 at the Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta, ND.

Burgess Dean Matejcek, the son of Ernest and Ruth (Johnson) Matejcek born February 20, 1938 in Lawton ND. In 1953 Bud moved with his parents to Owatonna, MN at the age of 14. He was married to Juanita, but later divorced. With this marriage, they were blessed with three children. Bud worked and retired from the Wenger Corp for 27 years as a welder. Bud moved back to North Dakota at the age of 65, he lived there until his passing. He loved to bowl (was on a league in Owatonna for years), fish, go to the races, play bingo, drive tractor during harvest, mow the lawn for Ducky, and socialize with people. Bud was very much a people person and loved to have conversations with everyone.

Bud will be missed by his children, Randy Dean (Cindy) and Marcia Nita (significant other Troy); 4 grandchildren, Samantha, Cody, Joshua Brittanie) and Tessa; 3 great grandchildren, Brailee Ruth, Lileigh, and Emery; sister, Beverly Smith “Ducky”.

Bud is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth; father, Ernest; and daughter, Lori. We are sure that when dad headed home, Lori was right there saying “What the heck dad, what are you doing here?” We know that he has waited a long time to see her again.

The memorial service will be held at the Lawton Lutheran Church, Lawton, ND, on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Jodi Myrvik.
