Charles Blomquist of Edmore ND passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at First Care Health Center in Park River, ND at the age of 76.
He was born January 18 in 1937 to Clarence and Florence (Torgerson) Blomquist. He was the eldest of seven children and graduated from Edmore High School in 1954. His beloved siblings are Viola, Angie, Clinton, Claire, Dan, and Grace. Charles had a deep love of farming and family. He worked in the field since the age of seven and has always farmed with family: his grandparents and parents and uncles, his siblings and his nephews.
In August of 1961 he married Violet Miller and lived near Edmore raising three children, Richard, April and Carol. Charles was a passionate farmer with a great love of the land. He spent over twenty years custom harvesting and treasured those memories. Charles also did long haul trucking for many winters and enjoyed traveling the country. When home he loved to spend time with family and play the card game whist. Charles also spent much time on the phone talking with friends and family. He spoke with his brothers every day. Martin Wiley, a dear friend, farmed with him in the last few years and drove him places when his health was failing.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Florence, his sister Viola Bontrager and his brother Claire.
Surviving members of his family are the following: his beloved wife Violet, son Richard of Grand Forks, and his daughters April (Bob) Hubbard of Orange City IA and Carol (Danny) Recuenco of Brooklyn NY. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Charles, George and August Hubbard and Alexander and Allison Recuenco. His surviving siblings are Clinton Blomquist (Marlys), Angie Woerner (Rich), Dan Blomquist, and Grace Bredeson (Tim). He is also survived by three nieces and twelve nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Living Word Free Lutheran Church, Edmore, ND at 2:00 p.m. A visitation and prayer service will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota, ND, on Friday April 5, 2013 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at the Edmore Cemetery at a later date.
