Clarice E. Stein

Clarice Elaine Stein, 72, of McVille, ND passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2015 at Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille surrounded by her loving family.

Clarice was born January 20, 1943 to John and Ruth Vanderlin in Devils Lake, ND. She grew up and attended St. Mary’s Academy where she graduated high school, and worked for Cox Bakery in Devils Lake. Clarice married Jerome Stein on January 16, 1965; they made their home in McVille, ND where they were blessed with four children. Clarice was a proud stay at home mom for many years, and was able to continue that with her grandchildren as her kids grew up. She was employed at the Johnson Store and Grand Forks Federal Savings and Loan which were both in McVille. Retirement years brought the couple to their Texas home for winter months where they developed great friendships and memories. Clarice and Jerome celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in January.

Clarice was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed bowling, golf, camping, family, grandkids, and bingo at the Care Center with her special friend Joanie Ophaug.

Clarice is survived by her husband Jerome Stein, McVille, ND; children Michael (Tami) Stein, McVille, ND, Michele Stein, Moorhead, MN, Brent (Tammie) Stein, Jamestown, ND, and Beth (Shane) Vrem, Fargo, ND; grandchildren Shayla Kuzel, Clay Stein, Carleigh Stein, Courtney Stein, Cade Stein, Ashtyn Stein, Abbi Vrem, Daymon Vrem, Brittany (Travis) Elhard, Taylor Oberlander; great-grand daughter Payton Elhard; and several nieces and nephews.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol Heustis, and sister-in-law Marylou Vanderlin.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND. Visitation will be Thursday, March 26, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, ND and 1 hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be at a later date in McVille Cemetery, McVille, ND. Memorials are preferred to Nelson County Health System Care Center.
