Clifford A. Sateren

Clifford A. Sateren, age 87, resident of McVille, ND, died on Sunday, May 7, 2017 of pulmonary fibrosis while residing in the McVille nursing home.

Clifford Adin Sateren was born August 28, 1929, to Clarence & Bernice (Iverson) Sateren on a farm east of Lakota, ND. He grew up on the family farm one mile west of Mapes & graduated from Lakota High School in 1947. Clifford married Lorene Heller on August 12, 1951 in Lakota, ND. He farmed for a few years then started working as a grain elevator manager in Mapes, McVille, Buxton, Kloten, & Medina. He enjoyed volunteering as a 4-H leader, FFA director, Medina ambulance squad, Altru Hospice, Lions club member, county extension director, president of the cemetery board, Crystal Springs Bible Camp, Sunday school superintendent in Lakota & McVille. Clifford spent many hours volunteering at the Stump Lake Pioneer Village and was a Nelson County Historical Society Board member. In 2015, he was honored for his faithful tree service by the city of McVille with a tree planted in his honor.

Clifford is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorene; their children, Lance (Judy) Sateren of Bismarck, ND, Corene (Merlyn) Hermanson of Danville, VA; Cathy (Jeff) Loe of Thief River Falls, MN; Corey (Carol) Sateren of Onalaska, WI; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren with 2 more due this year; 3 sisters, Gloria Estvold of Lakota, ND, Bernice Johnson of Grand Forks, ND, and Mary Jane (Don) Pflaum of Cavalier, ND; 2 brothers, Roger (Joan) and Lorne, both of Lakota, ND; sister-in-law, Grace Sateren of rural McVille, ND; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clifford was preceded in death by his brother, Burton.

Clifford was thankful to God for his many blessings, including his children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren.

Clifford’s Funeral Service will be held at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Center Lutheran Cemetery, rural McVille. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
