Constance "Connie" LaNette Schmidt

Constance “Connie” (Quick) Schmidt, 79, of Lakota, ND, died peacefully surrounded by family the early morning of Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Connie was born August 14, 1946 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND to Darrel J. E. and Rita Faye (Morgan) Quick. She was raised in Valley City, and graduated from Valley City High School in 1964. Connie married the love of her life, John Schmidt, on January 11, 1969 at Michigan Lutheran Church. They made their home on the Schmidt family farm south of Michigan, raising their daughters, the 3T’s – Tamra, Tanya and Tessa. Connie attended Hairdressing Academy of Fargo and was a beautician for 25 years. After retiring from Renee’s Beauty Shop, she worked various jobs within the community of Michigan and also volunteered on the Michigan ambulance service. Connie moved to Fargo in 2014 and worked her “dream job” at the Moorhead Dairy Queen for three seasons. She moved back to Lakota in August of 2022 to the Good Samaritan Prairie Rose, where she enjoyed visiting, playing bingo with friends and had a special bond with the Director, Bobbi Jo Ericksrud. She loved her family fiercely and cherished her time with them, especially the grandkids and great grandkids.

Connie is survived by her daughters, Tamra (Shane McCullough) of Fargo, ND and their children Misty, Timothy, Hunter, and Addison; Tanya (Steve Madson) of Fordville, ND and their children Morgan, Jacob, and Paul; Tessa (Jon Varnson) of Lakota, ND and their children Jaden and Cole (Jenna); great-grandchildren: Charlie, Carter, Coleman, Piper, Tylan, Damon and Lincoln; Sisters: Vickie Miller, of Fargo, ND, Tara (Gary) Dahlberg, of Cohasset, MN, Wendy (Gary) Nordaune of Detroit Lakes, MN, Jodi Hanson of Fargo, Stacy Quick of Garden City, ID; Brothers: Darrel (Marlene) Quick of Shevlin, MN, Ryan (Allison) Quick of Bismarck. She is also survived by several in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces & nephews.

Connie was greeted at the heavenly gates by her loving husband, John; father, Darrel J. E. Quick; mother, Rita Faye Quick; step-mother, Lois Quick; step-mother, Candace Quick; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Miller and Brian Hanson.

The Funeral Service will be held at Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Burial will be at the Michigan Cemetery.
