Corella G. Baker, age 96, resident of Lakota, ND, formerly of Michigan, ND, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Lakota.

Corella Gladys Moe was born March 28, 1917 on her parent's farm near Whitman, ND, the daughter of Carl and Gurina (Loken) Moe. She was educated in the Whitman school and earned a 2 year Teacher Certificate from Mayville College. In 1970 she earned a Bachelor of Education degree from UND. She taught in schools at Bachelor's Grove, Dunseith, Kiester, MN, Perth, Lambert, and Whitman. Corella married Alwood H. "Laddie" Baker on December 26, 1942. They lived in Seattle during World War II, then lived at Kiester for a short time. They moved to the Moe farm near Whitman in 1947. Corella was active in the community and Sarnia United Lutheran Church. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her former students. She enjoyed singing and playing piano. She was a competitive whist player and played a mean game of rummy. Laddie died February 14, 2007. Corella moved to the Good Samaritan Society in August of 2008.

Corella will be missed by her 2 sons, Steven (Diane) Baker of Michigan, ND and Gregg Baker of Portland, OR; 4 grandchildren, Emily (Mitch) Chadwick of Carlton, OR, Brian Baker of Encinitas, CA, Shannon Baker and Brandon Baker, both of Grand Forks, ND; 4 great grandchildren, Nolan & Laurel Chadwick and Jacob & Morgan Presnell; brother-in-law, Gilbert Kraft of Rochester, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Elnora "Bonnie" Kraft; and brother, Tollef Moe.

Corella's Funeral Service will be held at the Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Peter Horn. Music will be provided by Jason Flom. Interment will be at the East Sarnia Cemetery, rural Whitman. Serving as casketbearers will be Brandon Baker, Brian Baker, Mitch Chadwick, Noel Moen, Al Bartz, and Frayne Berg. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND, on Friday, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
