Corlyn Maedella (Haugen) Bayman, age 84, Finley, ND passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at Bethany Gables in Fargo, ND.

Corlyn was born June 8, 1931 in Sharon, ND the daughter of John and Molly (Bakken) Haugen. She graduated from Sharon High School and Mayville Teachers College. She taught in rural schools near Hillsboro and Sharon. On July 11, 1959 she married Ralph Bayman at Hoff Lutheran Church. They lived in Finley, Fargo, and settled in Hope, ND where their children attended school. She was a member of the Jefferson Steinke American Legion Auxiliary and was active in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, WELCA, circles, bible studies and bible school where, she helped organize lessons and activities. She began doing child care in her home where a hot breakfast awaited each little one’s arrival.

Corlyn made everything from scratch and was known by friends and family for her homemade buns and pies. After Ralph’s death, Corlyn moved to Finley where she attended many events for her grandchildren. She joined the Finley Lutheran Church and continued to be an active member. She especially enjoyed the many Bible study and quilting days with her friends. In 2013 she moved to Bethany Gables.

Corlyn will be remembered by her children Linda (Gerry) Leadbetter of Bismarck, ND, Jon (Kathy Skramstad) Bayman of Fargo, ND and Lori (Brent) Kurtti of Mylo, ND; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; sister-in-law Alfa Haugen and several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Brian, brothers Julian, Kenneth and Rueben.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND and continue one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery.
