Daisy E. Flaagan

Daisy E. Flaagan, age 96, resident of Tolna, ND died Tuesday September 22, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Daisy Elizabeth Christie was born November 13, 1912 at Johnstown, ND, the daughter of Alfred and Daisy (Dean) Christie. She was raised at Minto, ND, and graduated from Minto High School in 1931. Daisy then received her teaching degree from Mayville State College. She taught for 4 years following her graduation in the rural Tolna area. Daisy met and married Leonard Flaagan on October 6, 1940 at the Pekin Parsonage. All of her children were born while they lived at the Burns place, except Roberta. They moved to the Ole Flaagan farm in 1949, where they lived the remainder of their years. Daisy was an officer and member of Sigdal Lutheran Church and WELCA. Her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the local high school teams, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Minnesota Twins.

Daisy is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Flaagan of Las Vegas, NV, Cheryl (Jerry) Forde of Tolna, ND, Carolyn (Ken) Novak of Bismarck, ND and Laurie (Mike) Kelley of Pierre, SD; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

Daisy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons Charles and David, daughter Roberta Bonnett, daughter in law Marsha, an infant great granddaughter Maisy Guptil, a sister Margaret Christie, and 5 brothers, Bailey Christie, George Christie, Robert Christie, Charles Christie, and Alec Fisher.

The Funeral Service for Daisy will be held at the Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, ND, on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend David Nichols. Interment will be in the Sigdal Church Cemetery. The casketbearers will be Travis Novak, Ryan Kelley, Jeremy Kelley, Matt Kelley, Dustin Bonnett, Tyler Bonnett, Vonda Forde, June Forde, Dana Haugen, and Cher Guptil. The honorary bearers will be Dale Christie, Jarvis Flaagan, Dale Flaagan, Donovan Flaagan, Bradley Flaagan, Myron Flaagan, Jerome Flaagan, Odell Flaagan, and Jon Erlandson. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
