David "Sever" Severtson, 60, of Brocket, ND, died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.


David was born July 9, 1952 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Norman and Doris (Rainsberry) Severtson. He was raised on the family farm near Brocket, attended Cleveland School and graduated from Lakota High School in 1970. He then graduated from Lake Region State College and attended Valley City State College, where he was a vital member of the football team. He returned home to pursue a lifelong career as a farmer and raised registered shorthorn cattle. He also worked at Don's Rec in Lakota and hauled beets for Webster Farms for many years. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and playing softball and at one time was the Nelson County Softball Commissioner. He served on the Clara Township Board and the Brocket Oil Co-Op Board.


David is survived by his mother, Doris Severtson of Brocket; a sister, Delores "Lori" (Gary) Webster of St. Vincent, MN; a brother, Norris Severtson of Lakota, ND; nephew, Jason (Shannon) Webster of Minot, ND; niece, Amy (Scott) Weinlaeder of Grafton, ND; and a special buddy great-nephew, Quinn Weinlaeder. He will be deeply missed by friends and family throughout the country.

He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Severtson.

The Funeral Service will be held at United Lutheran Church, Brocket, ND, on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery . Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Sunday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
