Dawn Marie Short Edwards was born September 17, 1957 in Northwood, ND to Wayne L and Marilyn M (Lind) Short. When she was 2 A½ the family moved to her father’s home state, Alabama, where she grew up with many extended family. While living in Bessemer, she graduated from Jess Lanier High School and attended Montevallo College.
As a child, she learned to love reading on almost every subject, and discovered a passion for music that stayed with her always. She became proficient on the piano, clarinet, and saxophone; playing in school functions, for family and friends, and for several churches that she attended throughout her life. In later years, she would discover another passion for gardening flowers and foods, and was an eager participant in Aneta’s community garden.
Her greatest love was for her Heavenly Father, desiring to see His will done, and for her earthly family: parents, sisters, niece, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and for her special son, Reyes.
Surviving are her mother Marilyn (Lind) Short, son Reyes Hamilton, sisters Pam Short and Joni Hamilton (Mark Curren), niece Hanna Hamilton, great niece Yamilex, and great nephew Ayden.
She is preceded in death by her father Wayne Short, son Evan Graham Edwards, grandparents Jack & Vera Lind and Vassie & Luke Short, and great niece Arianna Bella Gomez.
Throughout the last two years of her life there was much suffering and pain, but through it all Dawn never wavered in her belief that God is in control and He has a purpose and a plan for each one of us. We love and miss her and one day shall see her again.
So be truly glad, there is a wonderful joy ahead. 1 Peter 1:6
