Dennis “Red” Tremaine Rorvig, resident of McVille, ND, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 91.

Dennis was born August 3, 1932 to Anton and Thea on a farm south of McVille.  He grew up with his younger brother, Bruce, and attended school at Nesheim Township Country School.  He graduated from McVille High School in 1950.  Following that, he attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis for 2 years.  He then served in the U. S. Army for two years as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.  Upon discharge, he attended Valley City State Teachers College, where he earned a teaching certificate.  Dennis married Annette Loe in June of 1955.  They lived and taught in Hyatteville, WY, from 1957-1965.  Following their time in WY, they moved back to McVille, where Dennis coached and taught History, Math, and Social Studies.  After his teaching career, he farmed and ranched in the Sheyenne River Valley, where he enjoyed raising Hereford cattle and engaging with others involved in the industry.  In 2018, Red and Annette moved (grudgingly) off the ranch into the Summerfield Assisted Living Facility in McVille.  He spent the last few years as a resident of Nelson County Health System Care Center.

Dennis and Annette have three children of their own: Dean, New York City, NY; Dan (Teresa), McVille, ND; Carla (Andrew), Fargo, ND.  They also fostered Mary Bush and enjoyed her daughters, Cherie and Annie.  Grandchildren include Amy (Taryl) Smith, Scott Rorvig, Justin Milliard, and Brody Milliard.  Great-grandchildren are Kade, Kahl, and Kit Smith.

A Memorial Service will be held at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
