Diane E. Johnson, age 59, resident of Lakota, ND, died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at her home in Lakota under the care of her family and hospice.
Diane Elaine Solberg was born May 31, 1953 in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of James O. and Enid (Bjorge) Solberg. She was raised and educated in Lakota, graduating high school in 1971. She married Lyle Beauchamp in 1971. Diane married Wayne O. Johnson in 1983. She worked at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center for 13 years, she also helped Wayne operate Lakota House Movers. Diane was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in the Community Club and other civic affairs. She owned and operated Johnson's Hardware for 10 years, retiring in 2009 due to ill health. Amongst her many labors of love, she was the sexton and caretaker of the Lakota Cemetery.
Diane will be greatly missed by her children, Nancy (Christian) Skogen of Lakota, Jeffrey (Shannon) Beauchamp of Moorhead, MN, and Michael (Kylie) Johnson of Fargo, ND; step children, Daniel (Melody) Johnson and Donna Clauson, both of Lakota, Rendina Johnson of Fargo, and Jason Johnson of Grand Forks, ND; 3 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice (Jerry) Orvik of Fargo and Patricia (Thomas) Wheeler of Augusta, MT; brothers, Roger Solberg of Mille Lacs, MN, Alan (Laurie) Solberg of New Ulm, MN, and Paul (Sheri) Solberg of Devils Lake, ND; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; nephew, Timothy Jon Solberg; and step grandson, Drake Rainey.
Diane's Funeral Service will be held at the Lakota Lutheran Church on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Peter Horn. The organist will be Karen Fowler and the soloist will be Garth Rydland. Burial will be in the Lakota Cemetery. The casketbearers will be Jim Aaker, Norris Bjorge, Norris Severtson, Christopher Johnson, Brandon Johnson, and Jeff Russo. An Honor Guard will be accorded by the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21 Ladies Auxiliary of Lakota. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
