Dorothy Mae Bjorlie, age 87, resident of McVille, ND, formerly of Pekin, ND, passed away peacefully Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Hillsboro Sanford Care Center, Hillsboro, ND.

Dorothy had been a resident of the Nelson County Health System Care Center for one year in McVille, ND prior to moving to Hillsboro to be closer to family.

Dorothy was born August 2, 1928 in rural Binford, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Lillian (Koloen) Rorvig. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford. She married Seymour Bjorlie in Binford on October 24, 1948. They started milking cows and achieved the top grade A dairy herd in the state in the 1960’s. She really loved the farm animals, especially the cows, horses, cats, and dogs. She is a member of the Sheyenne Lutheran Church and held many positions in the Ladies Aid. She also served on the Pekin Arts Council Board and the Altru Hospice McVille Branch. Dorothy lived on the farm south of Pekin until 2007 when she moved to McVille. Seymour died on November 25, 2010. Dorothy was always active, but really enjoyed quilting and visiting with family and friends. She was very involved in her community, devoting much of her time to volunteerism in the area, most notably with the Nelson County Health Care System Care Center and the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy will be missed and remembered by her sons, Sidney (Dora) of Fort Worth, TX, Russell (Paula) of Loveland, CO, and Drs. Kevin (Selina) of Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren, Andrea and Eric of Midland, TX, Stephen (Nicole) of Kailua, HI, Tad and Dr. Bo (Katie) of Loveland, CO, Kayla, Tanner and Mason of Fargo, ND; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Sherman (Donna) Rorvig of Binford, ND; along with many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Seymour; parents; a younger sister, Shirley Danforth; and a great grandson, Tyler, son of Tad Bjorlie.

The Memorial Service for Dorothy will be held at the Sheyenne Lutheran Church, rural Pekin, ND on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Sheyenne Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sheyenne Lutheran Church or the Nelson County Health System Foundation.
