Dorothy Kuck

Dorothy J. Kuck, age 85, resident of rural Lakota, ND, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at her home near Lakota.

Dorothy Jean Keitzman was born November 6, 1927 in Lakota, ND to Bernice Schaible and Byron Keitzman. In 1932, Dorothy moved to the farm south of Lakota with her parents. In 1942, she was forced to quit school and help on the farm due to the war. She finished school by correspondence. Dorothy was married in 1957 and lived in New Jersey and New York for a year and a half before moving back to Lakota. She then moved to Devils Lake where she was a nurses aide in labor and delivery for fifteen years. She then moved to Grand Forks and worked as a nurses aide for thirteen years at St. Mikes. Dorothy then moved to Barnesville , MN where she worked as a cook until 1975, when she moved back to the farm near Lakota. She had been living at the farm ever since. Dorothy loved being outdoors. She always looked forward to planting her two acre garden full of tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and many other vegetables. She also loved hunting and fishing. It was about two years ago that she became unable to do these things.

She was preceded in death by her fishing buddies: Merle Rainsberry and Jeff Cook.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lakota Lutheran Church on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Becky Horn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
