Dorothy C. Raaen

Dorothy Colleen Raaen, 86, of McVille, ND passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022.

She was born in McVille on July 27, 1935 to Clifford and Della (Odegaard) Miller.  She lived on a farm in rural Kloten, ND and attended a few years of elementary school prior to moving to rural Pekin, ND where she graduated high school in 1953.  Following graduation she attended Aaker Business College in Grand Forks graduating in 1954.  Dorothy worked at the Tolna Bank prior to marrying Owen Raaen on August, 9, 1959 in Pekin, ND.  They moved to McVille where they raised two children David Owen and Ann Marie.  Following Owen's passing in 1992 she worked in the laundry at the Nelson County Nursing Home and played piano for their church services.  Music and church were an important part of her life, playing for countless weddings, funerals, and church services in the area and singing in the choir.

Dorothy is survived by her son, David Raaen, Mesa, AZ; daughter, Ann (Jason) Kleven, Cando, ND; grandchildren, Jordan (Majusta) Kleven, Allison (Schyler) and Jacob Kleven; great grandchildren, Keagan and Jase; and brother, Gerald (LuWanna) Miller, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Owen; and great grandson, Bryce Kleven.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022 at the McVille Lutheran Church.  Interment will be at Sheyenne Lutheran Church Cemetery in the spring.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
