Edith Hoverson

Edith Mae Hoverson, age 89, Sutton, ND passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington, ND.

Edith was born May 17, 1925 in Antler, ND the daughter of Alfred and Clara Marie (Overland) Tenneson. She grew up and attended school in Mekinock, ND. On May 21, 1944 she married Allen Clair Hoverson, Sr. at Ness Lutheran Church. They farmed near Manvel for three years and then in 1946, started farming near Sutton, ND where they farmed for the next 59 years. Allen passed away April 27, 2006.

Edith and Allen enjoyed RV-ing and traveled all over the U.S. She was a member of the Good Sam Sheyenne Valley Club and active with the Mabel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. Edith was a caring person who enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors. She was a wonderful cook and will be missed by many.

Surviving members of the family include her five children, David C. (Julie) Hoverson, Cooperstown, ND, Dean A. (Gwen) Hoverson, Sutton, ND, Ruth M. (Tim) Luther, Fergus Falls, MN, Allen C. (Kathy) Hoverson, Jr., Bonita Springs, FL, and Randal C. (Loree) Hoverson, Hannaford, ND, fourteen grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Schultz, Lisa (John) Kukulya, Michelle (Michael) Briehler, Deborah (Danny) Anderson, Wendy (Andy) Anderson, Luke Nellermoe, Benjamin (Cassidie) Luther, Anne (James) Jessup, Allen C. (Tara) Hoverson III, Kara (Lance) Pressor, Charles D. Hoverson, Curtis Hoverson, Ryan Hoverson and Kyle Hoverson; ten great grandchildren; one sister Swanhild "Swany" Johnson, Anacortes, WA.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Cheryl Mae, sisters Edith Genora, Alice and Ruth, brothers Harold "Gunnar", Orlando and Edward.

Funeral services for Edith will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 11:00 in Mabel Lutheran Church, Sutton, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 2:00PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
