Edna A. Quanbeck, age 81, resident of McVille, ND died Saturday, January 09, 2010 at the Nelson County Health System-Hospital in McVille, ND.

Edna was born April 22, 1928 in Osakis , MN to Louis & Martha (Olson) Larson. She grew up and attended grade school in rural Osakis. She worked as a seamstress at a factory in Minneapolis that produced uniforms for the U.S. Army as part of the home front effort during World War II. She also worked as a nurses aide at the Crippled Children's School (now the Anne Carlson Center ) in Jamestown , ND . She married Clarence Quanbeck July 8, 1950 in Osakis , MN . After their marriage they moved to Denver , CO for a number of years before settling in McVille. They owned and operated the Quanbeck's Variety and Jewelers Store in McVille for 35 years before retiring in 1986. Clarence passed away December 3, 1999 . Edna was a member of the New Luther Valley Lutheran Church : ladies aid, choir, taught Sunday school, Women's Missionary Federation and Quilting. She was active in the Nelson County Right to Life and a tireless community volunteer, showing her Christian faith by reaching out to those who needed a helping hand.

Edna will be missed and remembered by her son Reuben (Kimberly) of Cape Charles, Virginia; granddaughters, Martha (Chad) Anglebrandt of Belle Fountaine, Ohio and Alexandra Quanbeck of Grand Forks, ND; a great-granddaughter, Piper Jean Anglebrandt; a sister, Alice Johnson of Osakis, MN; sisters-in-law, Irene Larson and Esther Larson; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Rebekkah Quanbeck; brothers, Andrew Larson and Roy Larson; sisters, Inez Larson and Esther Burton; and brothers-in-law, William Johnson and Robert Burton.

Funeral services for Edna will be Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the New Luther Valley Lutheran Church of McVille. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Kinneberg. Organist will be Margaret Johnson with special music by Vicki Larson. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the spring at the New Luther Valley Cemetery , rural McVille. Memorials are preferred to the Nelson County Health Services Foundation and the Anne Carlson Center Foundation. Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home of McVille.
