Edwin (Ed) LeRoy Quanbeck passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025.

Ed was born on September 26,1934 near McVille, ND to Jacob and Ovidia (Aslakson) Quanbeck. Ed was raised on the Quanbeck farmstead near McVille. He graduated as the salutatorian from McVille High School in 1952 where he also excelled in basketball and track. After high school Ed managed the farm along with his dad Jacob and brother Sherman. In addition to farming, he served on the township board for many years and the McVille Lutheran Church Council.

In 1957 Ed and his family bought a beautiful farmstead in the Sheyenne River Valley. Ed and his sister Corine took great pride in their farmstead and worked many years to make it one of the most beautiful farmyards in ND.

Ed was very active throughout the years spending time playing baseball, fishing, waterskiing, snow skiing and snowmobiling. Ed loved boating and fishing and spent many hours fishing on Devils Lake. Once seeding and harvesting were done Ed loved to take trips to Canada to catch the “big” fish. In his later years, Ed enjoyed several trips to Hawaii with his family.

Ed was a very caring man and was the caregiver for his parents for many years.

Ed was preceded in death by his father Jacob Quanbeck; his mother, Ovidia Quanbeck, his sister Corine Nesheim; his brother-in-law Vernon Nesheim; his brother, Sherman Quanbeck and his sister-in-law Loretta Quanbeck.

He survived by his nephews, Kurt (Cheryl) Quanbeck, Mark (Heidi) Quanbeck, and niece Kaye (Dale) Effertz.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July, 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the McVille Lutheran Church in McVille, ND with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be held immediately after the service at the Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Aneta, ND. Lunch will be held at the McVille Lutheran Church following burial.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials can be made to the Norway Lutheran Church Cemetery.
