Elaine M. Hejlik, age 68, resident of Lakota, ND, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her home under the care of her family and hospice.

Elaine Mae Johnson was born March 13, 1943 at Fort Wayne, MI, the daughter of Glenn and Eldora Johnson. She graduated from high school in 1961 at Brookings, OR. In 1964 she moved to the Lakota / Devils Lake area and attended Lake Region Junior College. Elaine married Kenneth Thompson in September of 1966. She worked at various locations in the service industry in the Lakota area for a number of years. Elaine married Allan Hejlik on March 27, 1986. Family was very important to Elaine, and also meeting new people. She loved sitting at the kitchen table playing pinochle every chance she could. She also loved playing bingo with friends and sharing time with them.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Allan Hejlik of Lakota; 3 sons, Mike Thompson of Livonia, NY, Gary (Kerry) Thompson of Devils Lake, ND, and Brad (Kris) Thompson of Devils Lake, ND; 4 step-children, Kent (Pat) Hejlik of Lakota, Kathy (Ron) Sandford of Fargo, ND, Colleen (Terry) West of Wahpeton, ND, and Candace Hejlik of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Alyce Wright of Scottsdale, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Denise Thompson; and brother-in-law, Dennis Wright.

Elaine's Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church of Lakota, ND, on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Timothy Stout. The organist will be Ellen Pederson and the soloist will be Jason Flom. Interment will be in the Lakota Cemetery. The casketbearers will be Dale Volk, Kevin Yali, William Hejlik, Travis Fossen, Rob Marquart, and Brent Borland. An Honor Guard will be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Rundell-Holicky American Legion Post #21 of Lakota. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
