Elsie Nielsen

Elsie Marie Nielsen, age 74, resident of Jessie, ND passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Cooperstown Medical Center in Cooperstown, ND.

Elsie was born September 3, 1938 in Pembina, ND the daughter of Summer and Pauline (Wandler) Shumaker. She grew up and attended school at St. Mary's in New England, ND. On July 26, 1956 she married Gerald LeDoux at Fort Ripley, MN. After their marriage they lived in Japan before returning to the United States. Elsie moved back to New England and worked in a café with her mother. On December 12, 1980 she married James Nielsen. After a short time in Fargo, ND they moved to Jessie in 1988. Elsie was a cook at the Coachman Inn for 20 years in Cooperstown.

Surviving members of the family are her two sons Allan LeDoux of Grovetown, GA and Raymond (Debbie) LeDoux of Harlem, GA; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; a brother Charles (Lois) Shumaker; a sister Linda (Richard) Johnson; and in-laws Rod (Delores) Nielsen, Betty Haugen and Sue (Russell) Wolf.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Brad LeDoux, daughter Valerie Newman and grandson Jeremy.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jessie, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 beginning at 5 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND
