Emma Miller

Emma (Bosch) Miller, 93, resident of Lakota, ND died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Home in Lakota, ND.

Emma Elizabeth Bosch was born April 22, 1921 at home in Ramsey County, ND the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Senger) Bosch. She grew up and attended school at Cato #4 where she graduated from the 8th grade. At age 13 she left home and worked as domestic help for various families, and later at the Great Northern Café in Devils Lake, ND. On September 23, 1942 she was united in marriage to Howard Miller at St. James Catholic Church in Warwick, ND. They lived and raised their family on the Miller family farm near Hamar, ND. In October of 1976 they moved to Tolna, ND where Emma worked for the Gronaas Greenhouse. Howard died on October 8, 1979.

Emma was a giving and caring person who touched many lives with her witty nature and easy going personality. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, ceramics, embroidery, and especially spending time with her family and friends. Emma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Tolna Senior Citizens Center where she frequently served lunch on bingo nights.

Emma will be missed by her 5 children Rodney Miller, White Earth, ND, Cheryl (John) Dougherty, Lakota, ND, Rainell (Butch) Gronaas, Pekin, ND, Roger (Debra) Miller, West Fargo, ND, and Lana (Lonny) Quam, Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Mary Lauiger and Margaret Lange, both of Devils Lake, ND; 5 brothers Joe Bosch and Mike Bosch, both of Devils Lake, ND, Paul Bosch, Sebeka, MN, George Bosch, Garrison, ND, Edward Bosch, Minot, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard; daughter-in-law Joyce Miller; grandson Corey Miller; 3 brothers Anton, Lawrence, and Arnold Bosch; 2 sisters Regina Chepulis and Leona Nelson; and sister-in-law Ilene Flom.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tolna, ND. Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014 beginning at 6 p.m. with Vigil and Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Lakota, ND. Interment will be in Tolna Cemetery, Tolna, ND.
