Evelyn Smallbeck

Evelyn Smallbeck, age 92, resident of Aneta, ND died Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta.

Evelyn was born April 24, 1922 the daughter of Otto and Annie (Hillesland) Eberhardt. She grew up near Aneta, ND and graduated from Aneta High School in 1942. Evelyn married Kenneth Stansbury in 1943. The couple lived and farmed near Finley. Evelyn married John Smallbeck in 1970. John died in 1991.

Evelyn was active in Ottawa and Sundahl Lutheran Churches. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Aneta. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, along with working in her flower gardens and playing bingo.

Evelyn is survived by her children Roger Stansbury of Fargo, ND, Dale (Sheryl) Stansbury of Glendive, MT, and Deb (Mike) Schutt of Milnor, ND; step children Donald Smallbeck, John (Mary) Smallbeck of Aneta, ND, Deb (Andy) Heitkamp of Minot, ND, and Kathy (Pete) Karlsson of Moorehead, MN; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister AnnaBelle Johnson of Cooperstown, ND; brothers Cleo Eberhardt of Aneta, ND and Don (Myrtle) Eberhardt of Aneta, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Stansbury and husband John Smallbeck; daughter Melody Stansbury; son Monte Stansbury; brothers Robert Eberhardt and Ernest Eberhardt; sisters Marion Edwardson and Ina Eberhardt.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND. Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2014 beginning at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Cooperstown Funeral Chapel, Cooperstown, ND and will continue 1 hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in Silent Hill Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sundahl Lutheran Church or Silent Hill Cemetery.
