Glen G. Knetter, age 77, resident of Lakota, ND, died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Glen was born December 12, 1935 near Marathon, WI, the son of Anton and Amelia (Volhard) Knetter. He attended school in the Marathon/Edgar area, graduating in 1953 from Edgar High School. In 1957 he began operating his own cheese factory in Mason, WI. Glen was married to Darlene Meyers. He moved to Lakota in 1961 to operate a cheese factory there. He later opened a cheese factory in Medina, ND and Pilot Mound, Manitoba with his brothers. Glen was married to Beverly Schneider. He then began operating Knetter Trucking and the Bartlett Hog Farm. Glen married Donna Ahonen Larson on September 18, 1992. He was a lifetime member of the WI and ND Cheesemakers Association and served as president for the last 4 years that it was in existence. Glen retired from the cheese factory in 1995 after 30+ years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing in his younger years, and in recent years he enjoyed traveling in his motor home.

Glen will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna Knetter of Lakota; his children, Sheri (Don) Brown of Pembina, ND, Coleen (Bob) Anderson of Mayville, ND, Lori (Chuck) Robbins of Cavalier, ND, Kim (Roger) Reed of Alburnett, IA, Lisa (David) Mulholland of Littleton, CO, Dane Knetter of Green Bay, WI, and Kelley (Vance) Bakke of Kindred, ND; a stepdaughter, DeAnn (Paul) Miller of Lakota, ND; 25 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Allan (Jackie) Knetter of Medina, ND, Tony Knetter and Ralph (Gayle) Knetter, both of Edinburg, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sons, Lance and Travis.

The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lakota, ND, on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrating the Mass will be Rev. Fr. Steven Meyer. Music will be provided by the St. Mary Church Choir, Barbara Johnson is the organist. Interment will be in the spring at the Lakota Cemetery. The casketbearers will be Rodger Anderson, Virgil Anderson, Marvin Wigen, Bert Elgin, Darryl Johnson, John Ringsrud, and Jim Swingdoff. The honorary bearers will be Glen's grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Vigil and Rosary Service will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
