Gordon John Bolstad, 81, of Edmore, ND passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Gordon John Bolstad was born April 26, 1932 in Lawton, ND to Ole and Inger Bolstad. Gordon grew up on the Brocket family farm with four brothers and four sisters. He later moved to Edmore, ND to continue farming with his parents, where he also attended Highland School. He was the youngest of nine children. Later on in 1957, he married the love of his life, Elaine Maxine Hogfoss of Hampden, ND. On December 2, 1974, Gordon & Elaine gave birth to their only son, Jason Bolstad. Gordon and Elaine enjoyed 56 years of marriage together before recently moving to Fargo, ND to be closer to their son. Gordon drove semi-truck across the road from state to state, hauled beets for Transystems, worked for a brief time at Kringstad’s ironworks in Cavalier, ND, and farmed nearly all his life. He was a beloved husband, loving and devoted father, and a faithful servant of the Lord. He enjoyed spending every chance he could working in the shop or outdoors and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need no matter how busy he would be. Gordon was a charter member of Living Word Free Lutheran Church in Edmore, ND. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his son and striking up a conversation with anyone who was willing to take the bait and lend an ear.

He is survived by his wife Elaine Bolstad of Edmore, ND; son Jason & (Nicole) Bolstad of Moorhead, MN; Glady’s Boe of Puyallup, WA, Helen Jackson of Puyallup, WA, Aggie Phillips of Dover, PA along with several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Inger & Ole Bolstad; Olga Grieve of Bremerton, WA; brothers Melvin Bolstad, Alfred Bolstad, Adolf Bolstad, & Raymond Bolstad.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Living Word Free Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND.
