Gordon J. Glimsdal

Gordon John Glimsdal, age 91, resident of Northwood, ND, formerly of Aneta, ND, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center in Northwood.

Gordon was born on March 21, 1925 in Binford, ND, the son of Lars and Malla (Paulsrud) Glimsdal. Gordon married June Franson on November 16, 1975 in Kloten, ND. After their marriage, they lived in rural McVille before moving into McVille in 1998. June passed away August 15, 1999.

Gordon attended grade school in Nelson and Griggs County. He was a rancher and farmer all of his life, along with his brother, Leonard. Gordon was a lifelong member of the Sons of Norway Lodge, Norway Lutheran Church, and the Nelson County Historical Society.

Gordon will be deeply missed by June’s sons, Alvin (Judy) Franson, Scottsdale, AZ and Ken (Berneda) Franson, West Des Moines, IA; several nieces and nephews, Deanna (Tom) Bonneville, Edina, MN, Darlene Rae (Gary) Graves, Augusta, GA, Robert (Nancy) Bratvold, East Grand Forks, MN, Annette (Louis) Dick, Roseville, MN, Gayle (Carlyle) Stenberg, Watford City, ND, Ronald (Brenda) Gjelsness, Reynolds, ND, Kristi (John) Horn, Plainfield, IN and Kendall (Connie) Gjelsness, Florence, CO.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; sisters and their spouses, Marian (Ralph) Nelson, Eleanor (Melford) Bratvold, and Ruth (Maurice) Gjelsness; one brother, Leonard.

Funeral services for Gordon will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Northwood Deaconess Health Center-Swarstad Chapel, Northwood, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Swarstad Chapel. Interment will be in the Norway Church Cemetery, McVille, ND. Arrangements with the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home, McVille, ND.
