Ina Olson Sinhel, 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

Ina was born December 29, 1920 in Lee Township, Nelson County, N.D. at her family farm home. She was the daughter of Frank and Ingeborg (Lofthus) Olson.

As part of the “Greatest Generation,” Ina served her country during and after World War II working for the War Department and the US Engineer Corps, traveling to French Guiana, Hawaii and Tokyo. After the war she returned to the U.S. and married Nick Sinhel at the family home in N.D. They later settled and raised their family in North Carolina and were married for 49 years.

Possessing a strong work ethic, Ina worked hard throughout her life. Ina retired as office manager from Southeastern Orthopedic after many years of dedicated service. Ina was known for her love of flowers, her passion for gardening and was most happy when she was outside digging in the dirt.

Ina will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, unwavering strength, strong faith, and her unconditional love of family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Sinhel Rumsey (Joe); grandchildren, Melissa and Joseph Rumsey and Alison Rumsey Linkner (Kent); and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Marlie Linkner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Lynn and Paul; husband, Nicholas Sinhel; and son, Robert.

A Graveside Service for Ina will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 9 a.m. at New Luther Valley Cemetery, rural McVille, ND.
