James Richard Charon passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in the Sanford Palliative Care Center in Fargo, ND. He was 69 years of age.

He was born March 10, 1944 at Grafton, ND. He was the son of James Oliver Charon and Myrtle Alvina (Hanson) Charon. Jimmy grew up in the Midwestern states and enjoyed hiking in the mountains with his brother Joe. He had worked with a boiler repair service, health care provider, and had also worked in mining, trucking, and rodeo work. His hobbies included collecting and repairing clocks, working on old cars, and listening to country music.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his parents; and an infant brother, Garland.

He is survived by 2 children, daughter Renae Charon and son Brian Charon; 2 grandchildren, Blake and Travis Charon; and 1 great granddaughter, Emily Taylor Charon, all in the Vancouver, Washington area. He also has 2 special friends, Ritchie Haaland and Tammy Yost. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Joseph (Judy) Charon of Wolverton, MN and Thomas (Dolores) Charon of Silver City, NM; 1 sister, Nancy (Merle) Steinmann of Lakota, ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts. He will be deeply missed by friends and family.

The Funeral Service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Park River, ND, on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Park River. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
