Jared Anton Horejsi, age 34, resident of rural Petersburg, ND, died in a farming accident on Monday, October 3, 2016.

Jared was born August 24, 1982 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Wallace and Karen (Anton) Horejsi. He was baptized at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. He attended elementary school in Manvel, ND, and in 1996 moved with his family to rural Fordville, where he was confirmed at Dahlen Lutheran Church in Dahlen, ND. He graduated from Fordville High School in 2000 and then went on to college and graduated from Lake Region State in 2002 with an Associates Degree in auto mechanics. While there he found the greatest catch of his life and married Katie Gross on June 17, 2006. They made their home on the farm near Petersburg. Jared had a love for life. He was always willing to help out anybody. He had a contagious smile that was passed on to his kids. Abby Ann, born June 24, 2009, and Liam Anton, born September 1, 2011, were his pride and joy. He loved giving them “the best piggy back rides ever”, taking them for rides on the tractor, 4 wheeler, combine, and truck rides. He loved sharing his love of farming with his family. He enjoyed going hunting & fishing with his friends and hunting companion, Brody. During his farming career he served on the Dahlen Farmers Elevator Board and Nash Township Board.

Jared will be deeply missed by his wife, Katie & children, Abby 7 and Liam 5 of Petersburg; parents, Wallace & Karen Horejsi of Fordville; brother, John of Grafton; grandmother, Beverly Anton of Park River; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins. His family also includes his mother & father-in-law, Peggy & Gary Gross of Osnabrock; sister & brother-in-law, Laurie (Scott) Monke and Justin (Stacy Perdue).

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Anton and Wesely & Bernice Horejsi; aunt, Bonnie Jean Anton Schmidt; and cousin, Sheila Jean Schmidt.

The Funeral Service for Jared will be held at the Dahlen Lutheran Church of Dahlen, ND, on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Val Teppo. The organist will be DeeAnn Ellingson and the soloist will be Mary Ralston. Interment will be in the Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, ND. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
