Jayson P. Haugen, age 34, resident of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Michigan, ND, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his home in Bismarck.

Jayson Paul Haugen was born September 25, 1982 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Jay and Paulette (Severson) Haugen. He was raised in Michigan and baptized and confirmed at the Michigan Lutheran Church. He attended Dakota Prairie High School, graduating in 2001. Jayson then attended UND, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated in 2006 with degrees in Information Systems and Business Management. Jayson worked for several businesses, including Whitey’s in East Grand Forks, the Bismarck Elks Club, and currently at the Toasted Frog in Bismarck. He was a true sports fan, and a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, NY Yankees, and UND Fighting Sioux. Jayson was an excellent golfer and an impressive singer. His favorite karaoke song was Mac the Knife. He loved music of all genres and was a real movie buff. He enjoyed going to concerts and sporting events with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and style, and some may not know, a healthy fear of spiders! He was an entertaining story teller and he could even dance. He enjoyed playing pinochle and he loved spending time with his daughter, nephew, nieces, family and a multitude of friends. If Jayson was your friend, you had a friend for life.

Jayson will be deeply missed forever by his family and everybody that knew him: his daughter, Jayden Collins of McVille; his mother, Paulette “P.J.” of McVille; 2 sisters, Shelly (Eric Wald) Roningen of Bismarck and Penny (Duane) Lippert of Aneta; 3 nieces & 1 nephew, Madison, Paytan & Riley Lippert and John Roningen; 2 uncles, Mike (Elaine) Haugen and Randy (Tess) Severson, both of Michigan; 4 aunts, Dawn (Robert) Godwin of West Yellowstone, MT, Cathy Brueckner of Niagara, Holly (Kevin) Rothwell of Westminster, CO, and Linda (Lloyd) Diemert of Monroe, WA; his cousins, Bryan (Leana) Haugen of Whitman, Shandy (Mike) Hatlestad of Hillsboro, Brittany (Nick) Hemmingsen of Larimore, Tanner (Amber) Brueckner and Cody Brueckner both of Niagara, Rachael (Josh) Hilsinger of Brighton, CO, Kory (Laura) Severson and Kristi Stewart, both of Kent, WA, Jill (Garrett) Kunz of Bismarck, Tyler (Leticia) Severson of Michigan, and Ross Severson of McVille.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay; his grandparents, Paul & Delores Severson and Al & Dorothy Haugen; and his uncle, Gary Brueckner.

The Memorial Service for Jayson will be held at the McVille Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Sherri Frederikson. The organist will be Linda Loe, the soloist will be Shelly Roningen accompanied by Sharon Young. Interment will be in the spring at the Michigan Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will include the Dakota Prairie High School graduating class of 2001, his Sigma Chi Fraternity Brothers, co-workers from his Whitey’s family, the Bismarck Elks Club, and the Toasted Frog. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND, on Monday, beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
