Jean Locken

Jean Locken, 94, of Aneta, ND, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Aneta Parkview Health Center in Aneta surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born April 12, 1919 in rural Aneta, ND the daughter of David and Ida (Miller) Rhynas. She grew up near Aneta and attended Logan Center School. Jean married Edwin Locken on October 10, 1940. The couple moved north of Aneta where they farmed together. Edwin passed away October 26, 1984. Jean moved to Kloten, ND in 1985. She moved back to Aneta in 1993. Jean was an active member of Logan and Sundahl Lutheran Churches. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Jean is survived by her daughter JoAnn (Jerome) Ensrud of Pekin, ND; sons Larry (Terri) Locken of Aneta, ND and Eugene (Barb) Locken of Aneta, ND; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters Vivian Wheeler of Seattle, WA and Shirley Brandt-Murray of Auburn, WA; sister-in-law Peggy Rhynas of Seattle, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edwin; twin sister Janet Smaaladen; sisters June Glimsdal, Betty Kristianson, and Ida Mae Miller; and brother Francis Rhynas.

Funeral services for Jean will be Saturday, March, 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Sundahl Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND and will continue 1 hour prior to funeral services in the church. Interment will be in the spring in Silent Hill Cemetery, rural Aneta, ND.
