Jerome E. Jensen

Jerome Jensen, 83, of Edmore, ND died January 28, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his wife and family by his side.

Jerome Elling Jensen was born March 19, 1931 on the Alvin Bloomquist farm in Fancher Township. He went to school in Highland Township in 1937 and graduated in 1945. That fall he started school in Edmore where he graduated high school in 1949. He farmed with his dad in Triumph Township southwest of Edmore until 1960 when the land was put into reserved acres. With his guitar on his back he was drafted into the army in 1956 and served 17 months in Germany with the 69th Tank Battalion. While deployed he had the opportunity to visit Denmark and Norway where he visited relatives and was escorted to many interesting places in Oslo. After he returned home he started the painting trade at Grand Forks Air Force Base and also worked as a musician. He played in several bands all over the country. Music was his life. Jerome met the love of his life, Gloria Jensen, of Blue Fields, Nicaragua. They were married 52 years. Gloria was previously married and had 3 children. The couple moved to the farm near Edmore, and in 1976 moved into town. Gloria became his painting partner. They painted many houses, farms, fences, and anything else they could paint. They retired 3 years ago.

Jerome enjoyed being with his family. He loved his family, music, and playing guitar with friends and family. He entertained with Elsie Magnusson, Matt Landsem and Keith Idland at Senior Citizen Homes, Rest Homes, VFW, Legions, Pain Reliever and many other places. That was his joy.

Jerome is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years; children Fernando (LeAnn) Gomez of Plymouth, MN & Joni (Curtis) Myhre of Edmore, ND; 6 grandchildren Lisa (fiancAC. Ryan Severson) Pickard of Roseau, MN, Lance (Becky) Hawkins of Devils Lake, ND, Sherry (Dante) Hawkins Eback of Georgetown, KY, Angie Hawkins of Shakopee, MN, Tammy (Dave) Montray of Coon Rapids, MN, & Tanya (Brett) Huettl of Brooklyn Park, MN; great-grandchildren Rachel Wiley, Josh Wiley, Chris (Lindsey) Pickard, Nick Pickard, Dani Pickard, Maria Hawkins, Belle Hawkins, Charlie Eback, Sofia Eback, Jack Eback, Leo Eback, Tyler Rasmussen, Joce Huettl & Jonathan Gomez; great great-granddaughter Alivia Pickard.

Jerome was preceded in death by his father Jorgan Jensen & mother Esther (Landsem) Jensen, infant brother Dennis Jensen, step-daughter Marina Trotti, son-in-law Raymond Trotti, aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Funeral Services will be Monday, February 2, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND. Visitation is Sunday, February 1, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 at Concordia Lutheran Church of Edmore, ND. Military honors will be provided by Neathery-Simensen VFW Post #756. Spring interment will be in Edmore Cemetery, Edmore, ND.
