IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerome Paul
Severson
October 18, 1942 – March 8, 2026
Jerome Paul Severson, 83, Michigan, ND, passed away at 4:30 pm on March 8th, 2026 at the Aneta Parkview Center in Aneta, ND after a battle with cancer.
Jerome was born October 18, 1942 in McVille, ND, the son of Paul & Alma (Christianson) Severson. He attended a one room schoolhouse close to his rural farm. He completed elementary school and then worked full time alongside his father on the farm. They raised wheat, corn, barley and many animals. As he got older he decided to venture off to Minneapolis to work. He worked as a custodian at a nursing home. This is where his need to clean began. He loved to clean, sweep, wash dishes and keep things orderly. After a few years there, he decided the farm life is what he wanted, so he moved back home to the family farm, where by that time his parents retired and moved to Michigan, ND. His brother-in-law, Alfred Polasky and wife (Jerome’s sister) Jeanne (Severson) Polasky purchased the family farm in 1973 and began a dairy farm. Jerome would milk twice a day everyday and also held a job with Britannia (McVille) for a few years and then one at Brua Bees (McVille) for 4 years and at Stenberg Septic (Lakota) for a few years. His love of hunting, fishing, gardening and caring for various animals was very evident. He was a crack pot shooter, the man hardly missed. Later when his illness didn’t allow much activity, he liked doing word search puzzles, color, draw, play cards & reminisce. Jerome loved all of his nieces and nephews unconditionally. Jerome never married so every child was loved as if they were his own. He spent the last 4 years living with his niece Kathy (Polasky) Breckheimer. She was his caregiver after Alfred passed away in 2022 on the very same farm he grew up on. He was very grateful for that, it ended where it began.
Jerome is survived by his younger brother James (Jim) Severson of Ray, ND, many nieces and nephews and their children.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Alma Severson, brother Paul Jr. (died at childbirth), sister Joyce (Severson) and brother-in-law Ernest Halseth, and sister Jeanne (Severson) and brother-in-law Alfred Polasky.
Private family services will be held for Jerome.
