Joan Faye Hoffarth, 79, gained her angel wings on June 4, 2026.

Joan Faye Hoffarth (Vondal) was born on August 22, 1946, in Langdon, ND to Adelard & Viola (Olson) Vondal. She was raised on the family farm northwest of Walhalla, ND. Joan graduated in 1965 from Walhalla High School. She met and married the love of her life, Lloyd Hoffarth, on June 19, 1965.

Joan was many things throughout her life — a devoted wife, a loving mother of six, a grandmother, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and cousin. Her greatest joy was her family, and she spent her life caring for the people she loved.

She had a special gift for making others feel welcome and cared for. Whether it was through a home-cooked meal, a plate of freshly baked treats, fresh vegetables, canned goods from her garden, or simply being there when someone needed her, she showed her love through action. Taking care of people wasn't just something she did; it was who she was.

Joan also had a deep passion for the FaHoCha Bible Camp. She volunteered her time and money for kids to attend. None of Joan’s children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or any other child who wanted to go worried about paying for camp - she always was willing to cover the cost. Joan also worked at FaHoCha the first week each of her grandchildren attended, so that she could make sure they had a great time at camp and they knew Grandma was right there if they needed her.

It didn't matter if you knew Joan for a lifetime or only a short while—she had a way of leaving a lasting impression. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others made people feel seen, valued, and loved. She touched more lives than she probably ever realized.

The love, strength, and kindness she shared will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone whose lives she touched.

While our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the many years, memories, and lessons she gave us. We will miss her deeply, but we find comfort knowing that her legacy of love will never be forgotten.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd Hoffarth; Children, Laurie (Charles) Rousseau, Lloyd Jr. (Anita) Hoffarth, Ann Hoffarth, Bradley (Debra) Hoffarth, Anthony (Laura) Hoffarth, and Robert Hoffarth; Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren, Anna (Zandy), Aaron, Kayla (Christopher), Adam, Cody (Alexis), Amber, Logan (Kami), Drew, Ayla, Paden, Ian, Ashley (Cody), Olive, Rosina, Timothy (Carley), Brady, Beara, Adelard Jacob (Paige), Dawson, Colson, Jhettson, Everlyn, Abigail (Robert), Adelyn, Asher (Zach), Braxton, Jordyn, Hazel, Alexandria, Izibelle, Geneveive, Joseph; and Siblings, sister-in-law, Carol Vondal, Jim (Donna) Vondal, Barb (Loren) Christianson, Roxie (Allen) Horsley, Valerie Gordon, Susan (Brian) Danielson; and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Adelard and Viola Vondal, brothers, Dick Vondal, Roger Vondal, and Rodney Vondal, sisters-in-law, Sharon Vondal and Maggie Vondal.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Lakota Community Center, Lakota, ND, with visitation one hour before the service.
