Joseph "Joe" P. Brooks

Joseph “Joe” Brooks, age 39, of Grand Forks, ND, and formerly of McVille, ND, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

Joe was born March 13, 1984 in Craig, CO, the son of Jerry and Luann Brooks.  The family moved back home to North Dakota in 1991.  Joe attended school at Cooperstown, ND and graduated from Dakota Prairie in McVille/Petersburg in 2003.  Joe and his brother, Jake, played football together in school.  Joe grew up with his dear brother, Jake, on the family ranch southeast of McVille in the Sheyenne River Valley.  Joe enjoyed hunting, riding horse, helping Dad with haying, fencing, cattle chores, and the annual Brooks branding in June.  He was proud to be part of the branding crew.  He absolutely adored the ranch border collies, Daisy, Zeke, Fist, and Crow.  Joe also helped his Mom for years in her job at the NCHS Activity Department in McVille.  He also worked at various jobs which included Home of Economy and the GFAFB Commissary.  Joe would give you the shirt off his back, had a servants heart, and gave the best hugs.

Joe is survived by his parents, Jerry and Luann Brooks; brother, Jake Brooks and fiancé, Andrea Johnson of Bismarck, ND; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and special friends, Danny & Kelly, and especially his dear Nancy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leslie & Ethel Brooks and Peder & Helen Haga Jr.; aunt and uncle, Janice & John Lee; and cousin, Jessie Mabus.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Jerry & Luann Brooks rural McVille home, 11516 – 20th Street NE, on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.  Please bring your own lawn chairs.
