Joyce J. Hallin

Joyce J. Hallin, 93, of McVille, ND died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille.

Joyce was born June 15, 1921 to Ole and Ruth (Swendseid) Heier in Petersburg, ND. She attended grade school and graduated from Petersburg High School in June 1939. Joyce attended St. Olaf College at Northfield, MN for one year. She graduated from Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND in 1941. After graduation she came back to McVille to work at McVille State Bank where she was employed for 2 A½ years. At that time she moved to Seattle, WA where she worked for Boeing Aircraft as personnel clerk for 2 years and 2 months. Joyce returned to North Dakota and was employed by Red River National Bank in Grand Forks, ND where she worked until her marriage to Leonard Hallin on June 8, 1947. Joyce and Leonard farmed north of McVille for fifty years, spending many winters in Arizona. In 1996 they retired from farming and moved into McVille where they spent their remaining years. Leonard died in 2006 after spending 6 years in swing bed at the McVille Hospital.

Joyce was very active at McVille Lutheran Church serving in some official capacity for 60 years; 45 of these as treasurer for the McVille parish. She continued to live in her home until 2013 when she moved into the Care Center in McVille.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and husband Leonard.

Joyce is survived by many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at McVille Lutheran Church of McVille, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Spring interment will be in Petersburg Cemetery, Petersburg, ND.
