Joyce A. Johnson, age 72, resident of McVille, ND, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Joyce Ann Maisel was born February 3, 1950 at New Rockford, ND, the daughter of Floyd and Carol (Monson) Maisel.  She grew up in the Grace City area, where she attended school and graduated in 1968.  She then earned a Nursing degree at NDSU.  She worked at the Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille, the Northwood Deaconess Hospital, the Aneta Parkview Health Center, and the North Dakota Department of Health.  Joyce married Eugene Johnson on September 28, 1973.  She was very active in New Luther Valley Lutheran Church; was President of WMF and a Deaconess.  Her hobbies include knitting, reading, and crossword puzzles.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Eugene of McVille; 2 sons, Michael of Mandan, ND, and Nicholas of McVille; 2 grandchildren, Nolan and Adriannia; a sister, Sonia Nygaard of Lincoln, ND; her mother-in-law, Edith Johnson of McVille; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Carol Maisel; father-in-law, Lawrence Johnson; and brother-in-law, Duane Nygaard.

The Funeral Service for Joyce will be held at New Luther Valley Lutheran Church, McVille, ND, on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be in the Spring at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kloten, ND.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, from 12:00 p.m until the time of service.
