Judith Laura Rysavy

Judith Rysavy, 83, Lawton, ND, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025 with visitation from 1-4 p.m. at Aaker Funeral Home, Lakota, ND.

Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Lawton Cemetery.

Judy was born on November 1, 1941 to Leonard and Laura (Chabot) Vaudrin in Rolette, ND. She lived in Overly, ND until age 6 when she moved to Adams, ND where she graduated from high school in 1959. Judy moved to Bismarck, ND after graduation and lived there for 2 years before moving to Sacramento, CA. She was employed with Traveler’s Insurance Co. in Sacramento as an auto insurance rater. 5 years later she returned to North Dakota along with her children, Steven and Kevin. She worked for Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator in Grafton, ND. In 1969 Judy married Joe Rysavy and moved to Lawton. Their family grew when their 3rd son, Scott was born. Judy worked as an Avon representative and in later years as a cashier/clerk in a grocery store.

Judy loved taking care of her family. She especially loved being a mom and grandma. She was known for always caring about others and made a lasting impression to everyone she met.

Judy is survived by her husband, Joe, Lawton; 3 sons, Steven, Phoenix, AZ, Kevin, Manvel, ND, and Scott, Grand Forks; 3 grandchildren, Brandon (Heather) Ness, Celeste Rysavy, and Kirby Rysavy; 4 great grandchildren, Alison Koller, Tobi Lorenzen, Lainey Ness and Willow Meier; sister, Joyce Cowan; sister-in-law, Stephany Vaudrin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Vaudrin; sisters, Theresa Vaudrin, and Shirley (Ray) Clevidence; and brother-in-law, Stan Cowan.
