Kathleen Tufte

Kathleen Ovedia Tufte, age 90, resident of Cooperstown, ND, formerly McHenry, ND died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown surrounded by her loving family.

Kathleen was born January 22, 1923 in Glenfield, ND the daughter of David and Olga (Erickson) Engstrom. She grew up and attended school in Glenfield and graduated in 1941. She married Stanley Tufte on October 24, 1942 at McHenry, ND. After their marriage they farmed and raised five children. Stanley died August 24, 1981 and Kathleen remained on the family farm until moving into McHenry in 1992. In September of 2010 she entered the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown.

Kathleen was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, WELCA, American Legion Auxiliary, Northern Lights Square Dancing Group and the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, baking, bingo, cards and square dancing.

Kathleen will be missed and remembered by her son Michael (Harriet) Tufte of Carrington, ND; daughters Renee (Lonnie) Anderson of Michigan, ND, Barbara (Ray) Walker of Cooperstown, ND, Wanda (Rod) College of Cooperstown, ND and Darla Dreher (Larry Culp) of Jamestown, ND; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren: Greg (Nicole Kuchera) Anderson and Olivia; LeAnn (Scott) Holmquist, Amanda, Marly, Ty and Tage; Scott (Janine)Walker, Tyler and Cara; John (Andrea) Walker, Colten and Ryleigh; Brandon (Dawn) Tufte, Alex, Melody and Spencer; Sabrina (Preston) Symonds and Ashton; Michael Tufte; Kaitlin College; Josh (Lindsay) Dreher, Abigail, Savanna, and Jake; Jason (Erin) Dreher, and Daphne; and Jordan and Dalton Anderson.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley, grandson Jeffrey Anderson, brothers Walter, Art and Philip, sisters Hazel Pramhus and Florence Nelson.

Funeral services for Kathleen will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 am in Our Saviors Lutheran Church, McHenry, ND. Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2013 from 4 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel and continue one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, rural McHenry, ND.
