Keith Ueland

Keith M. Ueland, age 60, resident of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Pioneer House Assisted Living, Fargo, ND.

Keith Merton Ueland was born May 21, 1953, in Cooperstown, North Dakota, to Kermit and Lois (Johnson) Ueland. He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1971. He attended Trinity Western Junior College in British Columbia for one year, and later became an electrician after completing training at Wahpeton State School of Science. He worked for several years for Curtis Electric in Jamestown as a master electrician, much of the time at the Ladish Malting Plant in Spiritwood, North Dakota.

In May of 1981 Keith was in a motorcycle accident and suffered a permanent head injury. In 1986 he moved to West Fargo and lived there until the summer of 2012. Keith, "Chipper", became a well-known part of his neighborhood. He volunteered at Bonanzaville, helped at the Sooper Stop, mowed lawns, helped neighbors and shoveled snow and chipped ice on West Fargo sidewalks. He enjoyed becoming part of his neighbors' lives.

In 2012 Keith was diagnosed with cancer, and he lived first at Manor Care and later at Pioneer House in Fargo while receiving treatments. During this whole time his one goal was to return to West Fargo. To the end he maintained his dry wit and positive attitude.

Keith is survived by his father, Kermit Ueland; and stepmother, Mary Lou Ueland, Cooperstown, ND; his sister Rhoda (Roger) Gann, Casper, WY; his brothers Martin (Rhoda) Ueland; and Joel (Kimberly) Ueland, both Cooperstown, ND; four nieces, four nephews , one grand-niece, one grand-nephew, and many other cousins, relatives, and good friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Ueland.

Funeral services for Keith will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Cooperstown Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be two hours prior to services in the chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Norm Thomsen. Theresa Haag will perform special music. Casketbearers will be Wayne Johnson, Ron Kirchoffner, Korwin Johnson, Robert Hannestad, Mike Knutson & Nathan Ueland. Interment will be in the Saron Evangelical Free Church Cemetery near Cooperstown.
