Kenneth Roy Hietala, age 76, resident of Michigan, ND, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Ken was born March 9, 1941, the son of Roy & Lillian (Karna) Hietala in Brocket, ND. He was raised on a farm at Pelto. Ken was baptized and confirmed at Finnish Evangelical Lutheran National Church of Brocket. He attended grade school at Enterprise School and graduated from Lakota High School in 1959. Ken served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. He married Lois Wilkison on July 2, 1966 at Fairview, Montana. Ken worked elevator construction, was a policeman, owned a service station, and began farming in 1973. He and Lois farmed until 2011. They moved to Michigan in 1975 and operated a construction company until Ken’s death.
Ken will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Lois; 2 daughters, Stanna (Hietala) Flom and her children, Tanner and Taylin of Harwood, ND and Michaela (Kevin) Misialek and their children, BreAnna and Kendra of Adams, ND; 2 sisters, Marlys Elvick of Lakota, ND and Beverly (Bob) Walford of Bismarck, ND; 1 niece and 6 nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents and a special granddaughter, Kelsey Mae Misialek.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Enterprise Finnish Cemetery, PO Box 204 Brocket, ND, 58321.
The Funeral Service for Ken will be held at the Michigan Lutheran Church, Michigan, ND, on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Enterprise Finnish Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home of Lakota on Friday, from 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
